Apple Targets Cool Factor With iPhone 17 ‘Air’ Between Standard and Pro Models
Apple is reportedly developing an iPhone 17 "Slim" that will cost more than the regular and "Pro" versions but could serve as a compromise between the two.
Apple wants to differentiate each model with various characteristics and target markets, according to analyst Mark Gurman, who provided his observations on next year's iPhone 17 lineup and foldable devices, WCCFTECH shares.
Although the iPhone 17 'Slim' has been rumored for some time, Gurman calls it the iPhone 17 'Air,' which, given its style and size, makes perfect sense for Apple. Apple may be hard at work on a new iPhone model that will be slimmer than previous iterations and have specs somewhere in the middle of the regular and Pro lines.
Considering that the iPhone 17 'Air' will not have the same incredible specs as the 'Pro' models, although being priced higher, Mark Gurman has provided information about it in the most recent edition of the Power On newsletter. He further revealed that the device's target market consists of those who care more about the aesthetics of their phones than their overall performance or processing capability.
Which implies that the design of the next iPhone will cater to a narrow audience and not appeal to the masses.
Gurman went on to say that the iPhone 17 'Air' will be a huge hit and that it will bring "meaningful growth" to the iPad line.
Gurman Predicts iPhone 17 ‘Air’ Will Outperform Mini and Plus Models
It is still to be witnessed how the category does in the real world, but he anticipates that the iPhone 17 'Air' would outsell both the “mini” and “plus” branded iPhones.
Reason being, the bar was never that high to start with, and sales of the "mini" and "Plus" have fallen short of projections.
