It has been months since the first clues on a next-generation Nvidia Shield TV made it into various news outlets. And the information leaks are not stopping as recently, certifications for the device’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi components were spotted as well. The company remains silent about the product’s launching, but these details are giving tech fans hints at an announcement happening soon.
Nvidia next-generation Shield TV Bluetooth, Wi-Fi specs
Some of the first rumors about a next-generation Nvidia Shield TV was reported earlier this year. These bits of information revealed several details that also appeared in more recent leaks suggesting that they all pertain to the same unannounced Nvidia product.
Fast forward to this week, the rumored upcoming iteration of Nvidia Shield TV appeared in two separate certification filings for its Bluetooth and Wi-Fi features. The stamp of approval from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) was published on Monday.
A few days later, the upcoming Nvidia Shield TV appeared once more as it acquired its Wi-Fi certification as spotted by Android TV Rumors on Twitter. Many were expecting it to run on the Android Pie, but the product details on the Wi-Fi certificate indicates that the operating system for it is “Android, version:9.”

It is also interesting that the next-generation Nvidia Shield TV is not listed as compatible with the latest version of Wi-Fi. It is certified for Wi-Fi 802.11b/a/g/n/ac, which means it will not support the latest version Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). Note that all the information bear the product number P3430 that was also spotted for the FCC listing that became one of the first references to the upcoming device, so tech fans know that all details are about the same product.
Nvidia’s new Shield TV release date speculations
To this day, Nvidia has yet to announce the next-generation Shield TV. But the pieces of evidence that it has been in the works are overwhelming. The certifications for its Bluetooth and Wi-Fi components also mean that its release date could be happening soon.
However, Nvidia is expected to focus on unveiling new graphics cards for the remainder of 2019. This is why there are speculations that the new Shield TV could be announced at the CES 2020 happening on Jan. 7-10, 2020.
