Sony is still not giving many clues about the PlayStation 5 exact release date as the final quarter of the year approaches. Fans are then left finding for other potential sources of information just like the announcement of an upcoming content pack on “Fortnite.”
PlayStation 5 release date rumors: Is it arriving on Nov. 17? ‘Fortnite’ fans think so
Epic Games confirmed the addition of more characters from the DC universe into the “Fortnite” gameplay this Fall. Some fans, however, think that was not the only thing the game developer has revealed.
“Fortnite” players are getting “The Last Laugh Bundle” that primarily features The Joker launching on Nov. 17. What caught the attention of gamers looking out for any PlayStation 5 intel was the part of the announcement that reads, “It will also arrive in time for the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X next-generation consoles.”
That was enough to spark another round of speculations on when the PlayStation 5 could be arriving in stores. While the wording is interesting, it should not be taken as a direct confirmation about the console’s launch. As other fans have argued, Epic Games merely advertises the bundle to be released sometime close to the potential release date of the console.
It should also be noted that Sony has historically chosen the month of November in launching a new generation of console. So it is not strange for Epic Games to claim that the “Fortnite” content update arriving on Nov. 17 is going live “in time” for the release of PlayStation 5. Simply put, Sony’s next-generation console was already likely to be released in November even before the Epic Games announcement.
Aside from The Joker, the “Fortnite” Fall update also marks the return of three other fan-favorite Dc characters: Batman, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn. The “The Last Laugh Bundle” will also include Poison Ivy and the return of Midas in a new Outfit. Note that this update is going to be a paid content.
PlayStation 5 price: What to expect
Sony, like Microsoft, has also been secretive about the price of PlayStation 5. Many people think one company is waiting for the other to make an announcement first. Whatever the real reason may be, both companies cannot keep this information any longer especially with the retailers needing to plan how many units they would get as the sale starts on holiday.
The best-case scenario would be that the PlayStation 5 would have the same $400 price tag as the PS4. But considering the upgraded hardware that includes custom SSD and ray tracing support, it would not be surprising if the actual retail price exceeds $500.
