“American Crime Story” Season 3 is still in preproduction as the writers handling the American anthology true crime series are still considering their options. According to FX Networks chief John Landgraf, they’re still playing with a few ideas at the moment and they’re still undecided which one to pursue.
Right now, Landgraf said that they aren’t considering telling the Hurricane Katrina series for “American Crime Story” Season 3. The story of Monica Lewinsky has also been scrapped as writer Ryan Murphy changed his decision. While the reason behind this is unclear, Murphy meeting with Lewinsky at a Hollywood party appears to have influenced the writer’s judgment, The Hollywood Reporter said.
Apparently, Murphy asked Lewinsky that if she’s interested in producing the story, then he would be happy to commit with the project. But Lewinsky supposedly declined, which resulted in the plot not being included in the exploration of “American Crime Story” Season 3. Although everything is a bit shaky at the moment, Landgraf assured fans that they are working hard to find the right story for the third installment, Cinemablend reported.
“We have three or four ideas in active development where we’ve sort of acquired rights or done a fair amount of research. We’ve got writers working on them. And I couldn’t tell you which one of them is likely to be ready first, but my sense is the likelihood is they’ll all be produced over time. So I think there are many more cycles of ‘American Crime Story’ to come and more cycles of ‘American Horror Story’ too… As far as I know, ‘Katrina’ is not still in the mix,” Landgraf explained. As for the release date of “American Crime Story” Season 3, there’s still no news about the matter either.
Contributing to the delay is Netflix successfully poaching writer Ryan Murphy away from FOX network with an enormous $300 million deal. Hopefully, Murphy’s new home will still allow him to work on “American Crime Story” Season 3 as fans are patiently waiting what’s next for the show.
