Angelina Jolie Talks About “Difficult” Brad Pitt Divorce, New Netflix Film; Will They Reunite For The Sake Of The Kids?

Angelina Jolie no longer attached to Kenneth Branagh's film 'Murder On The Orient Express'

Angelina Jolie finally opens up  about her much-publicized split and divorce from Brad Pitt

for the first time in months. The discussion was part of an exclusive interview Jolie did with BBC for the screening of her Netflix documentary film “First They Killed My Father.” The film is a true-to-life account of her dear friend Loung Ung during the horrific Khmer Rouge genocide. The documentary film’s world premiere was held on Saturday at inside the Angkor temple complex in Siem Reap, where Jolie’s other movie “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” was partly filmed.

She told the news org, "It was very difficult. Many people find themselves in this situation. My whole family have all been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children.”

The couple who had been together for 12 years and got married for two, separated due to “irreconcilable differences.” The mother of six declined to give specifics on that “plane” altercation involving Pitt and their eldest son, Maddox, which snowballed to the split, CNN reported. Pitt has since been cleared of child abuse.

Jolie back from publicity was in part for the promotion of “First They Killed My Father.” Due to debut on Netflix this year, Jolie said the driving force behind the film was Maddox, whom she had adopted in Cambodia, where the film was mostly shot.

“He was the one who just called it and said he was ready and that he wanted to work on it, which he did. He read the script, helped with notes, and was in the production meetings,” she added.

As for her home life post-Pitt split, it appears that she intends to continue as a family, even if mom and dad are no longer together. She said, "We are and forever will be a family and so that is how I am coping. I am coping with finding a way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer."
