The wait for the mobile version of “Apex Legends” will be over in a few days, at least for fans in 10 countries. The game is confirmed to have its limited regional launch next week with select features and Legends.
EA announced the limited release of “Apex Legends Mobile” in select regions, making the game available on Android and iOS. The publisher did not mention a specific release date in the announcement post, but confirmed that it will be available to players in 10 countries “starting next week.”
Mobile gamers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia will be the first to be able to play “Apex Legends Mobile.” While the release in these regions is part of a “limited regional launch,” EA mentioned that the features accessible next week will be “available for testing.” That opens the possibility for gameplay changes to the game once it launches worldwide.
It also appears that a limited launch does not only refer to releasing “Apex Legends Mobile” in select countries. EA announced that players will only have access to nine Legends next week, including Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Wraith, Bangalore, Octane, Mirage, Pathfinder, and Caustic. Note that the PC and console version of the game currently has 20 playable characters.
Unlike other online free-to-play battle royale titles, “Apex Legends Mobile” will not support cross-platform play between mobile and other platforms. “Apex Legends Mobile is being built specifically for mobile, so it won’t feature cross-play with the console or PC versions of Apex Legends,” EA said in an FAQ.
Android and iOS users will be able to access “Apex Legends Mobile” from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store once it goes live next week. EA unsurprisingly discourages sideloading the app.
EA has also released the system requirements to run “Apex Legends Mobile” on Android and iOS. The game will be supported on iPhone 6S or later as it requires at least 2GB RAM, an A9 chipset or later, and iOS 10 or later.
Android devices will need at least 3GB RAM, Android 8.1 or later, and OpenGL version 3.0 or higher. However, EA added that “Apex Legends Mobile” will be playable on Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, Lenovo, and Xiaomi phones even if they only have 2GB RAM. The game will need 3GB of free storage on both mobile platforms.
