Apple Watch SE Might Sport Plastic Casing in Vibrant Colors, Offering a Cheaper Alternative

New Apple Watch SE might come in vibrant plastic colors.

The upcoming Apple Watch SE is rumored to feature a durable plastic casing and vibrant colors, potentially lowering its price.

Plastic Casing for Next-Gen Apple Watch SE

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reiterated in this week's Power On newsletter that the next-generation Apple Watch SE will be equipped with a durable plastic chassis.

Gurman claims that, rather than aluminum, the usage of stiff plastic material is "sounding increasingly likely" in the next-generation Apple Watch SE models. Parents who are shopping for Apple Watches for their children may be enticed by the lower prices offered by plastic, MacRumors shares.

The new Apple Watch cellular website debuted in July with the express purpose of persuading parents to buy one for their children. Younger Apple Watch users can use features like location tracking, parent-calling capabilities, and activity tracking, according to the "Apple Watch For Your Kids" promotion. Parents can set up their children's watches on their own iPhones, and there are options to prevent them from using them in class.

Vibrant Colors Expected for New Model

If Apple used plastic instead of aluminum, the Apple Watch SE might come in a lot of cool colors. For instance, there was a plastic iPhone 5c that was available from Apple; it was available in a rainbow of hues, including green, blue, yellow, and pink. Since the present ‌Apple Watch SE‌is essentially a tweaked version of the aluminum Apple Watch lacking the most recent features, plastic would also serve to distinguish it from the regular Apple Watch models.

To better compete with competitors that provide more reasonably priced smartwatches, Apple may be able to offer the device at a reduced price if it switches to plastic from its current $250 model.

This year, we might see an update on the Apple Watch SE.
