Apple seems to be making efforts to capture the Android market. Shortly after the release of iOS 9 on Wednesday, Apple released ‘Move to iOS’, it’s first ever app for Android users. It is available for free on Google Play app store.
“Download the Move to iOS app to get help switching from your Android device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch” –Apple
According to MacWorld, as the transfer is not taking place over the cloud, Android users don’t have to backup their devices. Everything is synchronised by creating a private Wi-Fi network where the two devices can find each other.
"With just a few steps, you can migrate your content automatically and securely from your Android device with the Move to iOS app," says the app's description. "No need to save your stuff elsewhere before switching from Android. The Move to iOS app securely transfers all kinds of content for you."
This includes contacts, message history, web bookmarks, calendars, mail accounts, and camera photos and videos.
While setting up the iOS device, users will get a new option ‘Move Data from Android’. This will generate a 10-digit code that needs to be entered into the Move to iOS app on the Android phone. This in turn will establish a connection, and users would be able to select the content they want to transfer. Once data has been transferred, users can follow the remaining steps to finish the set-up process.
