Be ready for more “Arrested Development.” Actor Jason Bateman has confirmed that he has just signed on for one more season of the comedy series reboot.
Over the weekend, Bateman tweeted the confirmation and wrote, “Look very probable I'm going to put some miles on the Stair Car this summer. Just officially signed on to more ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT today.”
Bateman plays Michael Bluth, who tries to keep his wealthy but dysfunctional family together. Since getting dropped by Fox, “Arrested Development” returned with a fourth installment on Netflix, allowing its main cast members, including included Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter, to film together despite their very busy schedules, Chortle said.
Back in January, executive producer Brian Grazer told Deadline about the show’s development for its return, “We are close. I think we found a way to create the compensation structure for all the actors and create a work matrix so they can still make movies and do other things and it will all integrate. So we are really close — I think within a couple of weeks at the most.”
Although Netflix and 20th Century Fox Television has yet to make an official announcement of the show’s return, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the writers are already convening to brainstorm material for Season 5. Season 4 ended with Buster’s (Hale) arrest following the death of Lucille Two (Liza Minnelli). There is no timeline provided as to when Season 5 will be released either.
