‘Arrow’ season 5 is set to feature Chad Coleman of ‘The Walking Dead’ fame as the new villain Tobias Church. Meanwhile, Madison McLaughlin returns to portray Evelyn Sharp in the expanded role as Artemis.
Season 5 is set to welcome more and more characters into the ever-growing cast of ‘Arrow’. IGN reported that Coleman has been cast to play the villain Tobias Church and will be introduced in the season premiere scheduled to air on October 2016. His character was described as a gangster who unites the criminal underworld of Star City under his command.
Coleman is best known for his roles on popular television shows. He played Dennis “Cutty” Wise on HBO’s ‘The Wire’ and also portrayed Tyreese Williams on AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’. He also appeared on films such as ‘The Green Hornet’ and ‘Horrible Bosses’.
The incoming season will also feature the return of Evelyn Sharp, an unwilling test subject for H.I.V.E. and impersonator of Laurel Lance’s Black Canary following Laurel’s death at the hands of Damien Darhk. Evelyn used Black Canary’s identity to seek revenge for her parents’ deaths under H.I.V.E.
Madison McLaughlin will return to season 5 as Evelyn but will be reintroduced in the transformed and expanded role of Artemis.
According to Moviepilot, Artemis is the daughter of the villains Sportsmaster and Huntress and sister to Cheshire. The DC character played a huge role in the animated series ‘Young Justice’. She took over the part as Green Arrow’s sidekick following the Speedy’s departure and was recruited into The Team while pretending to be Green Arrow’s niece in order to hide her criminal parentage.
In the original comic books, Artemis followed her parents’ villainous way of life by joining groups such as Injustice Society, Injustice League, and Secret Society of Supervillains.
‘Arrow’ season 5 is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2016 on The CW. The superhero action series was developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. It premiered on The CW on Otcober 2012 and follows the adventures of billionaire playboy-turned-crime fighter Oliver Queen.
