“Better Call Saul” season 5 is going to be one of the biggest installments of this prequel spin-off series. Fans are expecting that the upcoming episodes to explore the complete transition of Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk). However, the wait for the fifth installment might be the longest ever since season 1.
Seasons 1 and 2 both premiered in February of 2015 and 2016, respectively. The show has since had later release dates for the following seasons with the third one airing in April 2017 and the latest premiering in August 2018. It is safe to expect that “Better Call Saul” season 5 will be released at a much later time this year.
A previous report from HN Entertainment made it clearer that the wait for “Better Call Saul” season 5 will take more than a year since the fourth season finale aired. The cast and crew will purportedly start filming on April 10 through August.
The filming of the fourth season wrapped up in late May 2018 but it did not premiere until August of the same year. If nothing much will be changed in the show’s production and post-production time frame, “Better Call Saul” season 5 can be expected to air sometime in fall.
“Better Call Saul” season 5 is definitely going to be the peak of the prequel series. Since the first season, the show has been detailing the life of Jimmy McGill — a.k.a. the real identity of Saul Goodman who was popularly known as the main protagonist of “Breaking Bad.” This transition was clearly foreshadowed in the season 4 finale, which means “Better Call Saul” season 5 will delve into the beginnings of Jimmy as Saul Goodman.
One of the main characters in the prequel spin-off that never appeared in the original series is Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn). Now that Jimmy is going to completely morph into Saul Goodman, the fans will most likely learn in “Better Call Saul” season 5 how and why his relationship with Kim ended.
