Charlie Brooker's chilling anthology series is attracting some serious talent.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of the movie hit “Kong: Skull Island,” has expressed his interest in helming an episode of “Black Mirror.”
Telling Digital Spy, he explained, "I don't have any interest in just doing episodic stuff unless it's something seminal, like “Black Mirror” or “Stranger Things” or something like that. I don't have any interest in just collecting a paycheck in that world. But I love what's happening in television and there's TV shows that you can build amazing worlds in now – that you can't with film."
If Brooker does agree, Vogt-Roberts would be joining “The Woman in Black” director James Watkins, “Atonement” director Joe Wright and his friend, “10 Cloverfield Lane”’s Dan Trachtenberg. Jodie Foster was also tapped to helm an episode for the show’s upcoming fourth season.
Den of Geek said Vogt-Roberts’ chances of directing an episode for Season 4 at least was high, considering the fact that there are a few episodes remaining that are still “up for grabs.” Moreover, Season 4 production is still underway, with a comedy, crime thriller, and an "indie drama" episodes set to come on the small screen, according to Brooker.
"I've got to be slightly careful about what I say. But one's shooting in Iceland, which hasn't been announced yet. We've got some strikingly different tones and looks. We've got one that's overtly comic, much more overtly comic than anything we've done. It's got fairly mainstream comic elements, but also some really unpleasant stuff that happens. I haven't even seen the rough cut of it yet," he told The Telegraph.
