Oak Brook, Ill., Aug. 31, 2017 -- A unanimous Federal jury in District Court in Chicago found in favor of Chamberlain Group in the assertion of patents against Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd (TTI), the parent company to brands such as Ryobi, Milwaukee, Hoover and Oreck, and several related entities. The jury found TTI to have willfully infringed on two U.S. Patents (U.S. Patent No. 7,635,966 and 7,224,275) through the manufacture and sale of its garage door opener under the Ryobi brand sold exclusively through The Home Depot.

“We invest significant resources to bring innovation and technology to our Chamberlain and LiftMaster offerings,” said JoAnna Sohovich, CGI CEO. “We respect the intellectual property laws of the United States and we will continue to rigorously defend our patents and our reputation.”
The jury's decision validates CGI's ongoing efforts to enforce its intellectual property portfolio.
“For over fifty years, CGI has invested in research, product innovation and consumer education as exhibited by the hundreds of global patents we hold in this space," said Sohovich. “This verdict is a big win for innovators and customers alike as it will allow us to continue to develop new solutions that provide access and knowledge to our consumers."
