Around this time last year, people in cosplay can be spotted in many of San Diego’s streets. However, COVID-19 has drastically changed the way fans attend pop culture conventions this year. Comic-Con 2020 is now more specifically called Comic-Con@Home.
How Comic-Con 2020 is being conducted
Conducting the Comic-Con 2020 virtually is understandably an incomparable experience than how the event is being held in the previous year. Comic-Con@Home is still a better situation than the hundreds of panels getting canceled altogether in any form.
One of the advantages of Comic-Con@Home is that it made the convention more accessible to many more fans around the world. Virtually attending the events and panels this year will not require fans to secure badges and wait in long lines.
Best Comic-Con@Home panels to ‘attend’ on Day 3
With more than 350 panels scheduled between July 22 and July 26, choosing which event to attend could be an overwhelming task. So for the upcoming Day 3 (Friday, July 24), some of the most star-studded panels are listed below -- note that all times listed are in PDT.
Comic-Con@Home Day 3 starts at 10 a.m. and movies fans who fell in love with Netflix’s “The Old Guard” might want to wait for Charlize Theron’s panel titled “Evolution of a Badass - An Action Hero Career Retrospective” where the actress tackles “the evolution of the modern female action hero.”
The first day of DC@Home panel will also premiere on this day at 10 a.m. Fans should not worry about missing any of the panels because Comic-Con will make the livestream videos available later on-demand through the Comic-Con International YouTube channel.
The second half of Comic-Con@Home’s Day 3 will delight fans of the “The Walking Dead” universe. The “Fear the Walking Dead” panel goes live at 12 p.m., where fans will see cast members Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Karen David, Jenna Elfman, and Rubén Blades discuss the show’s sixth installment.
At 1 p.m., AMC’s “The Walking Dead” panel follows featuring actors Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Lauren Cohan along with showrunner Angela Kang and the creator of the franchise Scott M. Gimple.
Hulu’s TV series take on Marvel’s “Helstrom” will be one of the highlights of Comic-Con on Friday, at 3 p.m. The panel will feature its cast members and showrunner Paul Zbyszewski, but the best part would be the premiere of its first trailer. Popular adult animated shows such as “Bob’s Burgers” (4 p.m.) and “Archer” (5 p.m.) are some of the remaining panels scheduled at the latter part of Comic-Con@Home’s day 3.
Fans can find the complete list of July 24 panels in this link. The page also includes the specific YouTube links as reference for when the panels go live. As mentioned, people should not worry about missing any panel because they will later be uploaded on YouTube just like the “Star Trek” universe panel that originally took place on Thursday morning.
