Conservative columnist and Washington Post opinion writer Jennifer Rubin recently claimed that more Republicans than Democrats will die amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The columnist argued that this is because Democrats are adhering to the suggestions offered by experts and the media. Republicans, on the other hand, are skeptical and they have also been following Donald Trump’s suggestions.
“There is particular cruelty, an irony that it is their core viewers, the Republican older viewers, who are the most at risk. And when you think about it, which party immediately canceled all their rallies? Which party immediately started having their political figures really portray and use their lives as an example? It was the Democrats,” she said.
“So, typically, there will be fewer Democrat deaths because there will be fewer mass gatherings. There will be fewer opportunities for people to congregate and share this horrible disease. So, it is really a very short-sided strategy. But I think now the name of the game is how do they get back on planet earth,” she added.
Rubin went on to share what she thinks will be the greatest problem of Americans amid the coronavirus outbreak. She said that unfortunate things will start to happen if people will start to follow the Italian model where there are mass casualties, and lives will be disrupted for months.
“And I don’t know if their brainwashing is so strong as to carry on and make excuses for Trump during that. But this will be some serious stuff,” she said.
Before declaring a national emergency last weekend, the POTUS first downplayed the seriousness of the pandemic. In fact, he also accused the so-called Fake News Media of making a big deal of the coronavirus outbreak and called it a hoax.
Days later, the president faced thousands of Americans when he announced the first death recorded due to the virus. And more deaths were recorded thereafter before he finally listened to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO).
