There’s no denying that Destiny is a popular franchise and within the first few days of Destiny 2’s release, the game managed to rack up over 1.2 million concurrent players. This is only for the console version as well, since PC players won’t be able to play the title until next month. On that note, while the game does seem to be an excellent multiplayer experience, some are of the impression that soloists won’t enjoy it as much.
That 1.2 million number is as of September 9th, when Bungie Tweeted about the figure. Clearly, the studio is riding high on the enthusiasm of the game’s fans, even with the current issues plaguing the game.
Thank you all so much for playing, Guardians! Right now Destiny 2 has over 1.2 Million concurrent players online. We'll see you in the wild.

“Thank you all so much for playing, Guardians! Right now Destiny 2 has over 1.2 Million concurrent players online. We'll see you in the wild,” Bungie Tweeted.
As Polygon notes, the launch for the PC version of the game is scheduled on October 24th. This would be the first time that the franchise gets an official PC release and the player base on the platform are already drooling over the chance to become guardians.
On the other hand, there could be a few things with regards to the PC launch that could hold the game back from performing as well as it should. For starters, there’s the growing popularity of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which currently has over 1 million concurrent players on Steam. What’s more, it will be difficult to tell if the same fervor shown by Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players is present on PC.
There’s also the small point of some players being marginalized by the game. As The Verge points out, the balancing issues for the multiplayer has been addressed and now the game is fun. Unfortunately, players who like to go solo are not accommodated as well, and it is particularly apparent with the Crucible.
Unlike in Destiny 1, the Crucible in the sequel is geared much more towards team-versus-team battles. The free-for-all system of the previous game has been downplayed, which means that players should either find reliable teammates or be doomed to lose every match.
