Wind power can be tapped and turned into an inexhaustible source of electrical power by putting up a wind farm. But U.S. President Donald Trump is not impressed especially since there are windmills involved.
Trump criticized windmills once more during a speech on Saturday evening at the Turning Point USA conference held at West Palm Beach, Florida. The president said he studied windmills more than anyone else but still has nothing good to say about them.
“I never understood wind,” Trump said, according to a Newsweek report. “I know windmills very much, I have studied it better than anybody. I know it is very expensive. They are made in China and Germany mostly, very few made here, almost none, but they are manufactured, tremendous—if you are into this—tremendous fumes and gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right?”
He even hinted that wind power is not as green as many believe it to be. The reason for this is that the production of wind turbines creation pollution in the first place.
“So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything,” Trump added. “You talk about the carbon footprint, fumes are spewing into the air, right spewing, whether it is China or Germany, is going into the air.”
Donald Trump also pointed out the windmills may be a threat to wildlife. The president claimed that a single windmill can kill a lot of bald eagles.
“A windmill will kill many bald eagles,” Trump said. “After a certain number, they make you turn the windmill off, that is true. By the way, they make you turn it off. And yet, if you killed one, they put you in jail. That is OK. But why is it OK for windmills to destroy the bird population?”
Newsweek noted that Trump seems to have a long-standing feud against windmills. In April, he also said that windmill causes cancer and will decrease the value of properties near it.
“If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value, and they say the noise causes cancer,” Trump said during the National Republication Committee dinner back in April.
