Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen leader, alleges that Elon Musk remotely disabled his Tesla Cybertruck during its use in the Ukraine-Russia war, adding another twist to the ongoing controversy surrounding the vehicle's presence in the conflict.
A leader in Chechnya who calls himself "Putin's foot soldier." According to Electrek, Ramzan Kadyrov asserted that Elon Musk remotely disabled his Tesla Cybertruck while it was being deployed in warfare in Ukraine.
Kadyrov Claims Cybertruck Shutdown by Musk
Kadyrov, who has ruled the Chechen Republic for nearly a decade, took delivery of a Cybertruck and equipped it with a machine gun, as we revealed last month.
There were several reasons why the report caused controversy.
Cybertruck's Acquisition Sparks Controversy
To start, it's not obvious how Kadyrov obtained a Cybertruck, especially considering that sanctions were meant to prevent Russia and him in particular from doing so. The Chechen commander further stated that he was delivering a Tesla Cybertruck to Ukraine so it could be used in Russian military operations.
Allegations of Musk's Involvement
Finally, Kadyrov implied that Elon Musk had given him the Cybertruck as a gift, a claim that Musk, CEO of Tesla, promptly rejected.
Even though Kadyrov said a few weeks ago that the Cybertruck was involved in the conflict in Ukraine, he claimed today on Telegram that Musk "remotely disabled" it. Additionally, he made it more apparent that Musk gave him the Cybertruck this time:
Musk Denies Allegations of Cybertruck Gift
“Now, recently, Musk remotely disabled the Cybertruck. That’s not a nice thing for Elon Musk to do. He gives expensive gifts from the bottom of his heart and then remotely switches them off. That’s not manly. We had to tow the iron horse. How could you do that, Elon?”
According to Russia's propaganda arm RT, the Chechen commander is dispatching two further Cybertrucks to Ukraine, and the "remote deactivation has been defeated."
Questions Surround Cybertruck Deployment in War
Two Cybertrucks armed with machine guns were captured on film:
One should naturally treat every RT news with skepticism since the channel clearly prioritizes propaganda above factual reporting.
