“Empire” Season 5 is looking into making the Lyons take back what is rightfully theirs. The previous installment ended when Lucious (Terrence Howard), Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), and the rest of the family’s wealth was swiped clean.
As such, “Empire” Season 5 will have them build from scratch, E! News reported. But given that the Lyons started out that way, it goes without saying that they can manage it again this time around. However, there are a few scores to settle aside from obtaining back their status as the vengeance arc is one of the plotlines set up by the previous season.
What’s more, “Empire” Season 5 will not pick up from where it left off in the prior installment. Instead, the hip-hop drama series will have a time-jump of two years. There’s also another power player that will come out the shadow in the next season.
Nicole Ari Parker, the actress playing Giselle, has been promoted to a series regular. Giselle will make significant moves to claim what she thinks is rightfully hers. Judging by the several trailers released by FOX, “Empire” Season 5 is going to have a lot of treacherous schemes implemented by several parties.
Henson said that the next installment is going to have the family work together to get back the wealth that they lost. However, showrunner Brett Mahoney said this effort will eventually fray the family’s relationship as they take one drastic measure after another to see their common goal realized. Indeed, Henson said that “Empire” Season 5 is akin to Nike’s commercial.
"It plays into that whole Nike campaign: risk everything. And that's what they did. They held onto what they believed in,” Henson elaborated. What these risks is going to be is unknown at the moment. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long as “Empire” Season 5 is but a few weeks away and is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 26, 8 p.m.
