‘Fast 8’ actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson allegedly snubbed co-star Vin Diesel in his recent thank you message for cast and crew after filming for director F. Gary Gray’s sequel in the popular action franchise.
According to Metro, Johnson officially wrapped filming the eighth installment in the highly popular action-franchise ‘Fast and the Furious’. He recently took to Instagram to post a thank you message for fellow cast members as well as crew. However, it was speculated that he deliberately failed to acknowledge Diesel following the alleged on-set feud between the two co-stars.
Athough Johnson’s post contained praise for the work of fellow co-stars Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood and Natalie Emmanuel, it didn’t contain any message for Diesel.
An excerpt from his post read, “Finished strong and on to the next. That's an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind.”
He added, “Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I've ever seen. And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew - the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night - thank you! In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY.”
The alleged feud between Johnson and Diesel emerged when the former posted a long rant on social media about his male colleagues’ seeming lack of work ethic and professionalism on the filming set. He wrote on his August 8 post, “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t… The ones that don’t are too chicken s- to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.” Although the post contained no direct mention of Diesel, it was speculated that Johnson was subtly implying him.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Johnson followed the post with a gentler one that said it was okay for people to have conflicts. He wrote, “Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs. To me, conflict can be a good thing, when its followed by great resolution… I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it.”
Johnson is set to reprise his role as Hobbs while Diesel returns as Dominic Torreto. Other members of the cast include Gibson, Eastwood, Emmanuel, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, Jordana Brewster, Helen Mirren, and Michelle Rodriguez.
‘Fast 8’ is an upcoming action film scheduled to be released in theaters on April 14, 2017. It is directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Chris Morgan. It is intended as the eighth installment in the highly popular and commercially successful action series ‘Fast and the Furious’, which earned $3.897 billion collectively worldwide.
It is produced under One Race Films and Original Film and distributed by Universal Pictures.
