By this time, it already appears that “Food Wars” season 5 is going to be the final installment of the anime adaptation series. In that case, anime-only fans will finally see what kind of relationship Soma and Erina will have at the end.
‘Food Wars’ season 5 spoilers: How Soma and Erina’s story will end
Soma and Erina are the central characters of the entire series. While everything started with Erina not liking anything about Soma’s personality, their talents combined was what got through the biggest conflict the anime has had. It can be recalled that the two led the Rebel Alliance during the Regimental Shokugeki to make sure Azami, Erina’s father, will not control Totsuki. Going into “Food Wars” season 5, these characters are going to face a bigger yet more personal challenges.
The end of the Regimental Shokugeki in season 4 also showed that Soma and Erina are already way past the competitive attitude toward each other. Erina can be expected to become more friendly toward Soma as she serves as the Totsuki director while Soma as the First Seat of the Elite Ten Council. Meanwhile, the biggest challenge ahead in “Food Wars” season 5 will also help to bring the two closer and for Soma to know Erina deeper.
However, to the fans shipping Soma and Erina to be an item might be disappointed with “Food Wars” season 5, especially if it devotedly follows all the plots from the manga. While the original series ended, leaving clues that the two have mutual feelings toward each other, it did not explicitly show them becoming a couple even after the massive timeskip in the epilogue chapters.
‘Food Wars’ season 5 release date: When to expect the new episodes
The final manga chapters received immense criticisms from avid fans. Many readers argued that the series left too many storylines hanging, including the relationship between Soma and Erina. It has then led many to call for the anime makers to write “Food Wars” season 5 with a different plot and hope they would give the series a more proper ending.
The finale of season 4 showed that Erina had met the next main villain, Asahi, in a different circumstance than what took place in the manga. However, it is uncertain if the plot changes will be maintained in “Food Wars” season 5. New episodes are slated to premiere in April.
