Ford is recalling 312,120 vehicles in the United States due to a defect that could lead to a loss of power brake assist, potentially increasing stopping distances and raising the risk of crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall impacts several 2025 models, including the Lincoln Navigator, Ford F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger. Regulators warned that the issue stems from the Electronic Brake Booster (EBB) module, which may fail during normal driving or when using the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). A malfunction could result in reduced braking performance, posing a significant safety hazard.

To fix the problem, Ford will provide a free software update for the EBB module. The update will be delivered either over-the-air (OTA) or through authorized dealerships. Owners are advised to check their vehicle’s recall status on the NHTSA website or contact Ford customer service for further assistance.

This recall highlights ongoing safety concerns across the automotive industry as manufacturers increasingly integrate advanced electronic systems into vehicles. Ford has not reported any injuries or accidents related to this defect but is urging affected owners to take immediate action to ensure their vehicle’s safety.

The affected models are among Ford’s top-selling vehicles, making this one of the largest safety recalls announced so far in 2025.
