It’s the second month of 2019 and Rockstar has yet to break their silence whether or not “GTA 6” is indeed in development. Fans of the single-player franchise are becoming more and more restless as the predecessor of “GTA 6” came out more than five years ago.
However, given the success that “Red Dead Redemption 2” has garnered since its release, it’s reasonable to assume that the studio will be making another entry for the series, VGR reported. But this also brings into the spotlight the possible creation of “GTA Online 2” should “GTA 6” hit the market.
It’s no secret by now that the online variant of the title is producing a lot of revenue for the studio. The question now becomes: is Rockstar going to build a “GTA Online 2” or stick with the current version? The latter is the likely candidate since making two online versions will divide the franchise’s player base. Rockstar can simply opt to scrap the idea of a “GTA Online 2” and focus on the story and game mechanics of “GTA 6.”
Indeed, one of the major complaints of gamers from the predecessor if “GTA 6” is the lack of depth among its major and minor characters. While there may have been some memorable moments, the overall experience wasn’t all that compelling when compared to other story-grounded titles. Granted, the series’ strength doesn’t heavily rely on this regard.
But if “GTA 6” can weave together the fun and chaotic mechanics of the previous entries with gripping storylines and relatable characters, then Rockstar can once again surpass their past achievements. And Rockstar is quite obsessed on this front as evidenced by what they did to “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
As for the release date of “GTA 6,” nothing has been confirmed yet given that Rockstar remains mum about the sixth installment. However, with all the rumors floating around and “RDR2 Online” now out the door, “GTA 6” could potentially drop sometime between 2020 and 2022.
