“GTA 6” continues to be one of the hottest topics in the video game industry even though the game doesn’t really exist yet. But over the months, many have speculated that Rockstar Games will eventually commit their resources to develop the sixth game in the “Grand Theft Auto“ franchise once “Red Dead Redemption 2” hit the shelves later this month.
For now, not much is known about “GTA 6” aside from the fact that it is not coming out in 2019. That much is clear because Rockstar Games is certainly going to take their time to make sure the game is as perfect as it can be once it comes out. However, the rumor mill has been buzzing lately as reports say the game may feature missions taking place in South America.
Citing an inside source, The Know was the first to report this on their YouTube channel back in March and it raised more than a few eyebrows. Apparently, “GTA 6” has been developed under the codename “Project Americas” and it is once set in Vice City, the franchise’s version of Miami. Interestingly, the game will allegedly have a female protagonist, which is a first in the series.
The Know also mentioned that “GTA 6” is slated to come out in either 2021 or 2022. That release date is in line with what many have speculated over the months with the Daily Express’ Gary Jones recently saying that the game may be delayed if “Red Dead Online” is as popular as “GTA Online.”
“If we can believe that Red Dead Online will be a success and left to run with free content support for several years, it would make sense that the next game from Rockstar wouldn’t arrive until at least 2020,” Jones said in the article. “But if we can believe that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be upgraded for the next PS4 and Xbox Two consoles, like what with GTA 5, this could stretch the lift of Red Dead Redemption 2 further.”
In any case, gamers may as well enjoy “GTA Online” while waiting for “GTA 6.” The online mode of “Red Dead Redemption 2” may be worth a look as well once it goes live.
