'GTA 6' Faces Potential Ban in Select Countries Over Content Concerns

The “Grand Theft Auto” series is one of the most successful in the video game business, and anticipation for “GTA 6” is at an all-time high.

Rockstar Games Released First ‘GTA 6’ Trailer

Rockstar Games officially published the first official trailer for “GTA 6” earlier this week, and it has taken social media by storm. During the first few hours of its YouTube release, it utterly destroyed MrBeast's previous record. Two days later, that first “GTA 6” trailer had received 118 million views, per Gaming Bible.

It's safe to say that when the next installment in the “Grand Theft Auto” series is released, it will shatter even more records around the world. Unfortunately, some people are worried that they won't be able to play “GTA 6,” and we're not just talking about those who will be playing on last-gen consoles.

GTA 6’ Feared To Be Banned In Some Countries

Whatever the reason, which is usually related to violence and sexualized themes, some video games might be extensively regulated or even outright prohibited in some countries. “Manhunt,” “Mortal Kombat,” and “Dead Rising 2” are just a few of the games that have been notoriously banned in different nations. Furthermore, certain Arab countries have a long list of banned games, including the aforementioned “Grand Theft Auto” franchise.

As a result, people are concerned that “GTA 6” may be prohibited in various Arab nations, as highlighted by the Twitter account Celebs Arabic. "GTA VI will have many 18+ scenes and could be banned in Arab countries!" it tweeted. Some “GTA” enthusiasts who posted on the thread said they would travel abroad to play the game.

Other Asian countries are prone to banning games with sexual themes, so we wouldn't be surprised if “GTA 6” is also unavailable elsewhere. “GTA 6” will be released in 2025 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. no PC release date has been announced as of yet.
