Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim has surfaced in the GSMA IMEI database, sparking speculation of a 2025 release. Expected to arrive in the U.S., this model could introduce a sleek design aimed at matching the rumored iPhone 17 Slim, due out mid-2025.
Samsung and Apple Enter the Slim Smartphone Race
Despite persistent rumors that Samsung is developing a "Slim" variant of the Galaxy S25, the South Korean tech behemoth is far from alone in its pursuit of a more slender smartphone.
Speculation has it that Apple is planning to release an iPhone 17 "Slim" variant in 2025, which might replace the iPhone Plus. It has come to light through a listing on the smartphone database that Samsung is indeed in the process of releasing a new device, which may be the 'Slim' variant.
Thinner Profiles in High Demand Across Smartphone Industry
The foldable industry has seen a rise in the appeal of thinner profiles, and phone manufacturers are aiming to release flagship phones with even slimmer bodies.
We may witness the release of smaller versions of the Galaxy S25 and the iPhone 17 in mid-2025, as initially reported by ET News, as Samsung and Apple decide to engage in a slim phone battle.
New Galaxy S25 Slim Model Number Spotted
The GSMA IMEI database is where Samsung typically posts their internally tested and developing devices, and SmartPrix has now released the listing for smartphones there, which includes the brand "Galaxy" and the model number SM-S937U.
The rollout typically takes place six months following the phone's arrival at the database. The new model appears to adhere to the same pattern as the previous one, since the model number is in line with the naming scheme chosen for the Galaxy S series, according to WCCFTECH.
A U.S. Release for the Slim Galaxy S25?
Besides the fact that the U could stand for a possible US release, not much is known about the forthcoming Slim model at this time. Since introducing a compact Galaxy would necessitate revisions to the CPU and screen, Samsung is likely to introduce a brand new design to suit the reduced profile.
iPhone 17 Slim Set to Rival Samsung’s 2025 Slim Model
The rumor mill is in full motion regarding the imminent release of the iPhone 17 slim in Q3 of 2025, which would coincide with the release of the Galaxy S25 Slim. The general consensus is that it will be quite expensive, maybe even more so than the iPhone Pro Max.
