‘Girl Meets World’ Season 3, Episode 1 – “Girl Meets High School Pt. 1”: Riley Faces New Teen Challenges

‘Girl Meets World’ season 3 is set to make things interesting for Riley and her friends. The back-to-back special premiere will find Riley facing new challenges in high school and it doesn’t seem that things will turn out smoothly.

The upcoming season will mark Riley and her friends’ new journey to high school. According to a summary posted on KSiteTV, the first two episodes for season three will be entitled “Girl Meets Highschool Pt. 1 and 2” and will find Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter), and Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer) tackling the challenges of high school life as freshmen after realizing that they have to start at the bottom of the academic hierarchy.

Season 2 concluded with the gang conquering middle-school and finally transitioning into a new phase in their lives. Showrunner Michael Jacobs said, “I think there was a big shift between Year 1 and Year 2. I think there will be a bigger shift between Year 2 and Year 3 … I think high school is the most confusing, awful, terrible and ultimately — if you do it right — wonderful springboard into college and the rest of your life… These are the episodes I want you to remember and we’re trying to do our best.”

Meanwhile, Ben Savage, star of the original series ‘Boy Meets World’, recently shared a photograph from the classic television show’s season 5 on Twitter that brought back nostalgic feelings from the Mount Sun Lodge location. The article from Bustle suggested that season 3 will lead to more teenage life complications – specifically romantic complications stemming from the love triangle between Riley, Maya, and Lucas.

Riley and Lucas’ relationship has been set up from the start. Things seemed fine until Riley’s best friend Maya admitted to having feelings for Lucas as well.

Carpenter revealed during an interview with ET that the new season is set to make things quite interesting for its characters. She said, "We're in the middle of filming season three right now and already there have been some incredible storylines… It's all about finding what we can do to take things to the next step because as you grow, you go through more intense stations in life and that's what these kids are going through."

She added, "Their group of four friends has kind of turned into a group of six very, very strong friends… You have Maya, Lucas, Farkle, Riley, Smackle and Zay and they're the perfect dynamic of friends. All of us have so much fun together in real life that doing it on screen doesn't even feel like work."

‘Girl Meets World’ season three will kick off with a special back-to-back episode on the Disney Channel with part 1 airing on June 3, 2016 and part 2 airing on June 5.
