Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HanmiGlobal have joined forces to make South Korea Asia’s next data center hub. The Texas-based information technology company and the Korean construction project management firm have agreed to make this happen through their partnership.
The agreement between the firms
As per The Korea Herald, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HanmiGlobal signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the management as well as the marketing of some data center construction projects. The companies have come together as political uncertainties in Hong Kong are driving foreign firms to relocate their data centers to other Asian countries.
Under their MOU, the Korean construction engineering company will handle the project management services, and HPE will provide the needed technology and consultations to set up the data centers in S. Korea.
Apparently, the pair will be providing services and requirements based on their expertise and their business. With their extensive experience in their respective fields, the construction of the data center is expected to yield excellent results.
It was noted that HanmiGlobal previously worked with LG Electronics and Naver as their project manager for the cloud centers. This is enough proof about the company’s caliber to make the project with Hewlett Packard Enterprise successful.
“We are very happy to partner with HPE, the leading provider of cloud technology infrastructures,” Lee Sang Ho, HanmiGlobal president, said in a statement. “The two companies hope to contribute to mutual development with HanmiGlobal’s know-how in project management, as well as put efforts to help client companies successfully make profit through their data centers.”
Political unrest in Hong Kong
The agreement between HanmiGlobal and HPE was formed, seeing the growing demand for cloud computing services in Asia. And as mentioned earlier, companies are looking for new places to move their data centers due to political unrest in Hong Kong, which has been the data center hub for years.
Now, The Korea Times mentioned that Seoul and Tokyo are emerging as the new data center hubs, and most of the global data center developers and operators have already started to move to Korea. For this, HanmiGlobal and Hewlett Packard Enterprise have grabbed the opportunity and formed their partnership.
