“High School Musical 4” is already confirmed by Disney, so this means that the long wait is over. However, the cast and crew have yet to finish filming, so a little more time is needed before it actually arrives in theaters.
The “High School Musical 4” was renewed a few years back, but the progress of its production has been very slow. As a result, many fans thought that it was canceled already but later, it was announced that Disney was looking for the right cast members as the old ones are not fit to act as highschoolers anymore.
"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for.”
Gary Marsh told The Hollywood Reporter after the fourth sequel was confirmed. “As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the 'High School Musical' franchise.”
Many fans still want to see Zac Efron, and Vanessa Hudgens in the “High School Musical 4” and the actor said that he would consider appearing as himself again. As for the latter, it was said that she would agree for a cameo role.
New Cast
In February, the full new cast lineup for the “High School Musical 4” was finally revealed by Disney and they are Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Olivia Rodrigo(Nini), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos), Matt Cornett (E.J.), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Dara Reneé (Kourtney) and Larry Saperstein as Big Red.
Filming
“High School Musical 4” will start filming in 2020 and it will take place at the North Penn High School (NPHS). The school’s official news site made this announcement after it shared that the cast will be on the campus next year for the shooting.
The premiere date for the “High School Musical 4” is still unknown. As usual, filming must be completed first before Disney could release a date.
