‘How To Get Away With Murder’ has been renewed for a third season as announced by ABC. The incoming season may seek to answer questions regarding Frank’s fate. Charlie Weber, who plays Frank, teased that his character will be returning as a series regular.
According to The Bitbag, Weber’s character Frank Delfino, an employee at Annalise’s firm, was presumed as the top perpetrator in the murder of Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin) during season 2. Wallace was a wealthy New York businessman with a number of enemies and father to Wesley Gibbins (Alfred Davis).
Season 3 may seek to debunk the cliffhanger regarding Wallace’s murder thereby ultimately defining Frank’s fate on the show. Creator Peter Nowalk admitted that suspicions made towards Frank were completely sound.
He said, “He just found out this episode that Wallace was also Wes’ father and he knows Wallace caused that car accident… That would make complete sense. I think I know who shot Wallace at this point and I will not tell you if you’re right or not. I will say sometimes we like to shock you guys and sometimes we like to do what makes sense. It’s all up for grabs.”
Nowalk added that Frank may have killed Wallace in order to redeem himself to defense attorney and main protagonist Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) by ridding her of her enemies.
Despite the tease, speculations emerged that a new character would be introduced as Wallace’s real killer. It was also rumored that Charles Mahoney (Wilson Bethel) could have killed Wallace by mistake instead of targeting Wes, who was Wallace’s son with cleaning lady Rose (Kelsey Scott).
According to another article on Movie News Guide, Frank’s return to the series was a huge likelihood as Weber admitted that he would be a series regular by the start of the new season despite not knowing where his character was. Weber said, “Pete Nowalk is the only person who knows the truths about these things.”
‘How To Get Away With Murder’ is an American legal drama series that airs on ABC. It first premiered on September 2014. On March 2016, ABC announced that it had renewed the series for a third season.
The television series follows high-profile defense attorney Annalise Keating who teaches a class at the Middleton University. Annalise selects five interns to work in her law firm along with her assistants Frank and Bonnie. Davis received critical acclaim for her role as Annalise and became the first African-American actress to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
