48% battery life from the first five minutes of charging? This apparently is Huawei’s latest new development for its smartphone battery life, Mashable reported.
On Friday, Huawei Central Research Institute’s Watt Lab announced that it has developed lithium-ion batteries that would enable mobile users to charge their phones 10 times faster than the current average battery.
The company subsequently released videos of the conclusive tests, which showed how one battery with a 600 mAh capacity got charged 68% capacity in just two minutes, with the other 3000 mAh capacity battery and an energy density above 620 Wh/L got charged to 48% capacity in five minutes. The battery charge rates are enough to allow users ten hours of phone call on Huawei mobile phones, the company said.
There is no word on when Huawei will release the batteries for public consumption. However, Endgadget notes that it might take time, given the bulky accessory used in the videos to charge a removable battery.
