CLEARWATER, Fla., Oct. 19, 2017 -- On October 14th and in addition to the festivities at Coachman Park, the Church of Scientology sponsored humanitarian program centers along North Fort Harrison Ave. celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month in the Osceola Courtyard in Downtown Clearwater. Around 300 passersby learned about each of the different programs, children jumped in the bouncy house and all enjoyed the live Hispanic music.

“These programs address human rights education, drug education, morality and criminal rehabilitation,” said Pat Harney, Public Relations Director for the Church of Scientology in Clearwater. “They are very community oriented and have many partners each.”
The programs include United for Human Rights Florida, The Way to Happiness Association of Tampa Bay, Foundation for a Drug-Free World, Criminon Florida, Scientology Volunteer Ministers and the Citizen’s Commission on Human Rights Florida. Each of their centers in Downtown Clearwater are open daily.
Hispanic Heritage Month was first proclaimed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1968 and implemented by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. Since then, Americans have spent this time period from September 15 to October 15 to recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans.
