Iran celebrated National Army Day this week as it touted its military arsenal for the occasion. In his remarks for the occasion, President Ebrahim Raisi warned Israel against making any move against Iran.
Raisi attended the celebration along with other senior officials for National Army Day Monday, with the Iranian military displaying its arsenal and defense systems. In his remarks, Raisi warned Israel against making any move against Iran, as it would lead Tehran to retaliate.
“Our message to the Zionist regime is that if you are normalizing relations with some countries in the region, you must know that not even your smallest movements are hidden from our intelligence, security, and armed forces,” said Raisi in televised remarks at the capital Tehran.
“And you must know that if you make the smallest movement against the Iranian nation, the destination of our armed forces will be the center of the Zionist regime,” said Raisi.
Raisi also targeted the US, referring to the comments of US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price that the maximum pressure policy that then-President Donald Trump imposed on Iran failed to achieve its goal. Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear deal in 2015 and imposed harsh sanctions on Iran instead.
“This is the faith of those who wish to be hostile to the holy establishment of the Islamic Republic,” said Raisi.
The Iranian president’s comments also come amidst the weeks-long pause in indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington in an effort to revive the nuclear deal. The last major point in the months-long discussions is the issue of whether to remove the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from the “foreign terrorist designation” of the US.
Iran has insisted that its nuclear program will be used for peaceful purposes and has maintained the stance early this month, with top officials promising to continue developing Iran’s nuclear program.
In the celebration of National Nuclear Technology Day, the officials unveiled the country’s achievements in the field, including displays of radiopharmaceuticals aimed at the treatment and prevention of cancer, the uses of plasma technology which include the development of cold plasma for treating cancer patients, and displays of laser-based technology for industrial use.
