The November elections draw closer as the days go by, and if there is an aspect that former Vice President is trailing behind with President Donald Trump, it is in the money being raised for the campaign. Recent reports reveal that the Biden campaign raised its highest during the first half of March.
Politico reports that the Biden campaign announced that they were able to raise $46.7 million for the month of March, the highest the campaign has raised in a month and even outdoing Trump’s campaign in that month. This resulted from the former vice president’s victories throughout the primaries that suddenly came after trailing behind in the early stages of the campaign period.
In the second quarter of 2019 and all throughout February, the Biden campaign raised over $88 million. According to the campaign finance report the Biden campaign filed, Biden spent $32.5 million and ended up with $26.4 million in the account. Trump on the other hand, still has $94 million left, but it should be noted that Trump has already amassed a large sum without worrying about a competitive primary. The RNC also has a large sum of money on-hand, putting the Democratic National Committee at a disadvantage.
Nevertheless, for the month of March, Biden and the DNC outraised Trump and the RNC. This is in part because of former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s $18 million transfer since bowing out of the presidential race. Still, since then, the DNC raised $32.7 million during the month compared to the RNC’s $24 million. The RNC and the Trump campaign have yet to file their finance report, but they have stated that the RNC, Trump campaign and its affiliates were able to raise up to $63 million, still short from the $79.4 million raised by Biden and the DNC.
Meanwhile, one of Biden’s tasks is to choose a running-mate come November, and many names have already floated around in reports predicting who the lawmaker may be. However, Biden revealed that he would love to have former First Lady Michelle Obama as a running-mate. “I’d take her in a heartbeat,” said Biden, speaking to CBS News. “She’s brilliant. She knows the way around. She is a really fine woman.”
The Former First Lady has stressed that she does not intend on running for office. Still many of her supporters have not shied away from trying to convince her to do otherwise.
