Even though he concedes that there is a particular event that has the potential to cause him to rethink his decision, President Joe Biden has reaffirmed his determination to continue running for the presidency.
President Biden recently participated in an interview with Ed Gordon, a correspondent for BET News. The interview is due to air on Wednesday. During the course of the conversation, President Biden revealed that he would withdraw from his reelection campaign if his medical staff recommended that he do so.
“If I had some medical condition that emerged and doctors came to me and said, ‘You’ve got this problem, you’ve got that problem.’ … Look when I originally ran I said I was going to be a transitional candidate, and I thought I’d be able to move from this and pass it on to someone else,” Biden said.
“I think I’ve demonstrated that I know how to get things done for the country, in spite of the fact that we couldn’t get it done. But there’s more to do, and I’m reluctant to walk away from that,” the POTUS continued.
This statement may give the impression that Vice President Kamala Harris's ability is being called into question; however, President Biden has stressed that he feels the nation would be less divided if he were to withdraw from the race. In spite of his age, Vice President Biden considers the collected wisdom that he brings to the campaign to be an invaluable asset.
Despite his recent debate performance and occasional slip-ups, such as incorrectly referring to his Vice President as Vice President Trump, President Joe Biden continues to be determined to continue his campaign. This is even though several Democrats have expressed their desire for him to resign from the race.
According to President Biden's position, which remains unchanged, a severe medical intervention is the only thing that would preclude President Biden from running for office in the upcoming election in November. It is anticipated that he will be officially designated as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for the election of 2024 during the Democratic National Convention, which will take place in August.
