Key elements of your wellbeing starts from within

Modern individuals are busier than ever. With this realisation comes the awareness that all too often, people are sacrificing aspects of their health and wellbeing – like their diet, their exercise routine, or their sleeping pattern – in favour of committing a few more hours a day to their work and general life. However, we should all know better than that by now. We live in a modern world where we are immersed in and surrounded by more innovation than ever before, and with all that new and exceedingly advancing information and subsequent awareness, comes the knowledge that we must take better care of our overall health.

The fact is that our health is our biggest luxury and our most valuable asset. This cannot be ignored, it is a fact of life. For those of us who are lucky enough to have the highest possible levels of health, there is the awareness of how lucky we are. For those who are not so fortunate, there is the wish that they could have a clean bill of health. Wherever one falls on the spectrum, the single best piece of advice anyone can ever get regarding their health is to do everything in their power to maintain and even exceed their levels of good health. So, what are the facets of health that one must focus on, and how does one do this?

Emotional health

Often lumped into the same broad category as mental health, emotional health is actually quite different from mental health. Emotional health deals explicitly with harbouring and dealing with one’s emotional response (i.e. the feelings that bloom in the presence of, or as a result of, incoming information) to the circumstances and the world around them. It can be challenging to healthily approach emotional health if you are confused or otherwise confounded by the state of your emotional health – because the very same aspect of health one uses to cope with their emotional responses, is the aspect of health that is at risk.

Mental health

Mental health, on the other hand, deals more specifically with an individual’s ability to process and handle information as it comes in, as well as how to continue processing that information internally once it has registered. Individuals often experience the world quite differently when they are struggling with their mental health, which can inevitably make the responses to the world around them quite varied, to say the least. Taking care of one’s mental health can mean anything from paying for appointments with a psychologist, to practicing daily meditation and even yoga. More serious cases of course require further treatment.

Physical health

Making sure one stays in peak physical condition includes keeping up with health checks, performing self-examinations and eating a nutritious and well balanced diet. If you struggle with remembering routine health appointments, talk to your health provider about getting an appointment reminder software which can assist them in keeping their schedule organized and their clients informed. If that is not possible, you should start utilising your smartphone’s calendar or reminders as it is important that you do not miss health checks.
