A new HBO show called “The Shop” was just picked up by the network and it will star basketball megastar Lebron James himself. As the name suggests, it’s basically where the famous athlete will sit down with other celebrities for an unscripted chat. Not everything is sunny for the Lakers player, though, as his son’s game recently got canceled because of the chaos that ensued.
As one of the biggest sports superstars in the world, it was only to be expected that excitement and controversy would follow LeBron James everywhere. This was exactly what happened during a recent amateur basketball game involving his son, LeBron James Jr., Yahoo Sports reports. By all accounts, it was quite the chaotic turn of events.
The kerfuffle apparently started when a parent of a player in the opposing team started bickering with security officials. It would seem that the appearance of LeBron James himself in the game led to an influx of viewers that made the Liberty High School gym quite crowded. As a result, the parents of the opposing team’s players couldn’t get in.
Things only got worse from there with refunds for the $15 admission fee taking over 30 minutes to facilitate and plenty of screaming ensuing during the interval. Eventually, police officers were called to calm the situation down. It’s also fortunate that LeBron James and his family had already left a few minutes after the chaos started brewing.
For more positive news, LeBron James fans have plenty to look forward to with the basketball star's show, “The Shop.” The first episode is already set to air on Aug. 28 and is expected to feature Snoop Dogg, Maverick Carter, and Jon Stewart, among other figures. Suffice it to say, there are plenty of reasons to look forward to the program if the clips released by HBO are anything to go by.
