Manny Pacquiao and Keith Urban will face each other on July 20 for the WBA World Welterweight Champion belt. The upcoming bout is deemed to be the biggest event this year in the world of boxing.
Prior to the fight, both Pacquiao and Thurman are hard at work, but in between his training routines, the American boxer always finds time to throw unnecessary verbal jabs at his opponent. Not long ago, he said that he would send Pacman to early retirement just like what he did to Oscar de la Hoya in 2008, but the Filipino boxer won’t back down and responded that he is not intimidated with his rival’s threats.
Pacquiao is inspired rather than intimidated
Pacquiao said that he is actually inspired to do better to prove that Keith Thurman is wrong. The eight-division boxing champion also told Thurman that he would soon come to know who he is fighting once they finally face each other in the ring.
“He’s saying things before we fight, but I will send a message to him in the ring about exactly who he’s fighting - he will come to know that,” Pacquiao told Boxing Insider. “No man can dictate when I’m going to retire. I’ve been in this sport for two decades, and nobody intimidates me.”
Thurman told Pacquiao to “go play ball”
Keith Thurman has something new to say to Manny Pacquiao. As if taunting the Filipino boxing legend, the 30-year-old American recently told his opponent just to go play basketball, which he loves and said that he believes Manny’s hourglass is almost finished.
“He doesn’t have much left, Boxing Scene quoted him as saying. “Go play basketball, Manny! You say you like to play basketball every day. Go shoot hoops with the guys, man!”
Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman are set to fight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The former is aiming to expand his historical career record to nine-division boxing champion by snatching the latter’s WBA Super Welterweight Champion belt two weeks from now.
Thurman is undefeated while Pacquiao has seven losses in 70 fights throughout his career. The latter is also older by ten years, but the Filipino is still the favorite to win.
