Senator Marco Rubio, a Republican from Florida, made a proposal on Thursday suggesting that President Joe Biden resign from his position in the event that he decides not to compete for re-election in 2024.
According to a Politico story, Rubio made his remarks while attending the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. The senator's remarks come at a time when Vice President Biden is being subjected to increasing pressure from his own party to reevaluate his candidacy for re-election owing to worries regarding his health.
There have been reports that influential Democrats, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Democrat of California), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (Democrat of New York), and former President Barack Obama, have advised Vice President Joe Biden to reconsider his choice.
Rubio raised concerns about Biden's capacity to continue serving as president if he cannot bid for re-election. “If there’s something wrong with you that doesn’t allow you to run for president, how can you still be there as president? If they’re going to remove him as [a] nominee, they've got to remove him as president, and that’s really bad for our country,” he stated.
The possibility of Biden withdrawing from the run for president in 2024 has been the subject of conjecture, and stories suggest he is seriously considering doing so. According to sources within the Democratic Party, Joe Biden is reportedly considering withdrawing from the race for the presidency of the Democratic Party. These sources indicate that his departure may be imminent.
Additionally, Biden's standing in the polls has declined over the past few weeks. Since the first presidential debate in 2024, former President Donald Trump has been making progress in the polls, according to a report published by Benzinga on the same day.
