McDonald's expands its sauce repertoire with the launch of Sweet & Spicy Jam and Mambo Sauces. The introduction marks an exciting addition to the beloved fast-food chain's condiment lineup.
McDonald's already serves six types of sauces, including the favorite barbecue, sweet and sour, and ranch. Starting Oct. 9, the burger joint will release McDonald's Sweet & Spicy Jam Sauce and McDonald's Mambo Sauce.
The first new flavor was described as a "jammy red pepper sauce with a tongue-numbing Szechuan peppercorn kick." The description stated it also has apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper to add extra heat.
The chain's chefs said this Sweet & Spicy Jam Sauce is recommended for Sausage McMuffin with Egg, Hash Browns, French Fries, Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit, and Chicken McNuggets. McDonald's said this condiment is also the first-ever breakfast-inspired dipping sauce to be introduced in its restaurants in the United States.
The Mambo Sauce is tomato-based and inspired by Washington, D.C.'s popular sauce flavor in the region. It is sweet, spicy, and a bit sour, perfect for french fries, chicken McNuggets, hash browns, and Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
As per CNN Business, the new McDonald's dipping sauces are not automatically added to burgers, but these are served separately to give food a new taste. It is hoped that these will reach the same level of success that its Szechuan sauce achieved despite being sold for a limited time.
In any case, McDonald's is partnering with social media influencers and chefs to promote the new sauces. Through the collaboration, people will see several possible food combinations to enjoy the McDonald's Sweet & Spicy Jam Sauce and McDonald's Mambo Sauce even more.
"We get inspiration for the food our fans love by exploring the incredible tastes and flavors found in communities across the country," McDonald's U.S. chief marketing and customer experience officer, Tariq Hassan, said in a press release. "Sweet & Spicy Jam and Mambo Sauce live at the intersection of flavor and culture - pulling from decades of rich food history and tradition in local restaurants and home kitchens, and bringing the delicious spice, sweetness and kick of heat we know today's customers are craving."
