Meghan Markle's popularity in the United States has dropped seven points, a recent poll revealed. According to YouGov polls of U.S. adults, the Duchess of Sussex was liked by 32% and hated by 22% in the third quarter of 2023, giving her a net approval rating of +10.
Prince Harry Is More Popular Than Meghan Markle in the U.S.
To recall, Meghan Markle had a net approval rating of +17 in the second quarter, per Newsweek, which means she fell by seven points in July, August, and September. In comparison, Prince Harry maintained his net approval rating of +24.
On the other hand, Prince William fell a point from +22 to +21, and Kate Middleton fell from +35 to +34. Meghan and Prince Harry had a rocky start to 2023 when the prince's memoir caused a drop in their popularity in the United States, but they began to recover in the spring.
For starters, YouGov's quarterly polling differs from traditional surveys in that responses are collected over a three-month period rather than the usual one or two days. Its findings were based on a representative sample of approximately 1,200 persons in the United States.
Red & Wilton also conducted a poll for Newsweek over the summer using a different methodology. Data showed that the recovery of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's popularity had stagnated. It was also learned that how people voted in the 2020 presidential race is the best predictor of how they feel about Meghan, with Joe Biden supporters giving her a +17 net approval rating and Donald Trump supporters giving her a -20.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry 'Jealous' of Prince William, Kate Middleton's Advantage
Meanwhile, PR expert Andy Barr previously claimed, as per NY Post, that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would be envious of the opportunities that would be available to William and Kate if they choose to take on the United States.
It can be recalled that, on May 12, Prince William reportedly applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark "The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales."
"Whilst Harry and Meghan have a powerful and well-established network of celebrity friends and 'fixers,' there is no substitute for being an actual, fully paid up member of the royal family. The global interest and intrigue in the British Royal Family means that they are guaranteed crowds wherever they go and whatever they do," Andy stated.
The PR expert shared that Kate Middleton and Prince William could "instantly be injected into the kinds of high society connections and opportunities that even top-level A-List celebrities like Meghan and Harry would be jealous of." "You only have to watch their every interaction to see that Kate and William are clearly super competitive, and if you combine that and the royal publicity machine in full swing, you can't see much getting in there," he went on.
