The Atlantic piece revealing the snide remarks Donald Trump privately made towards US soldiers and veterans has resulted in enormous backlash from critics despite Trump repeatedly denying such comments were made. First lady Melania Trump has also come to her husband’s defense against the piece.
Melania came to her husband’s defense against the piece from The Atlantic, where Trump canceled visiting the Aisne-Marne cemetery in France back in 2018 and called the fallen US soldiers that served in World War I “losers.” The report goes on to say that Trump referred to soldiers who went into battle as “suckers.” Trump and the White House have also repeatedly denied the allegations, however, several reports have confirmed parts of the piece. Nevertheless, Melania spoke out on Twitter.
“@TheAtlantic story is not true. It has become a very dangerous time when anonymous sources are believed above all else, & no one knows their motivation. This is not journalism - this is activism. And it is a disservice to the people of our great nation,” tweeted Melania.
The first lady hardly speaks out regarding issues concerning her husband’s comments. Trump continues to strongly deny making such comments, even falsely denying the snide remarks he reportedly made against John McCain, who passed away in 2018.
Meanwhile, it is clear that Melania and Donald are opposites of each other in terms of addressing crowds in speeches. During her speech at the Republican Convention where she made the case for her husband, body language expert Judi James analyzed the first lady’s movements and said that Melania’s role in the White House has become more important now.
James also said that Melania appeared to be nervous as she made her address in front of her fellow Republicans at the White House Rose Garden. “The suggestion of the speech was that Trump’s team now cherish and value Melania’s impact and potential in a way that they never seemed to in the early days of the presidency. The way her arms pumped gently against her ribs in a self-motivating ritual, suggested that this promotion might not have been prompted by her though,” said James.
James also noted that Melania’s speech during the partisan convention highlights the differences between her and her husband as well as how important she is in Trump’s campaign.
