Compared to previous first couples, including the relationship between Joe Biden and first lady Dr. Jill Biden, former first lady Melania Trump and former president Donald Trump are known to not be as affectionate towards each other. However, Melania’s former friend and aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, has revealed that they are a lot closer behind the scenes.
Wolkoff spoke on the Hollywood Life podcast, where she claimed that the couple’s relationship was a lot closer behind the scenes compared to the cold interactions in front of the public. The former aide, who wrote a memoir about her friendship with the now-former first lady, claimed that Melania’s way of showing affection towards her husband is by complimenting him. Wolkoff added that Melania is also the first person the now-former president calls after attending rallies and asking her about what she thought of the event.
“She tells him how it is, but she also makes sure to elevate him and embrace what he’s doing, because that’s who she is,” said Wolkoff. “And I didn’t realize that, but when you see their eye contact and the seduction through that gaze, it’s more about that than I think anything else.”
Since leaving the White House, Melania has been spending her time at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The former first lady has also recently established her post-White House office in order to continue her Be Best initiative that focuses on the well-being of children and the effects of the opioid issue on children.
Meanwhile, Express reports that Melania has some similarities with one of the UK’s royals, the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker-Bowles. The piece details that both women have been married to their husbands for the same number of years and that they are not their husbands’ first wives.
The former first lady is Trump’s third wife, while the Duchess is Prince Charles’ second wife. Trump’s first wife was Ivana Trump, with whom he has three children with - Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump. The former president’s second wife was actress Marla Maples, whom he has one daughter, Tiffany Trump. Trump has one son with Melania, Barron Trump. Prince Charles was married to the late Princess Diana, who tragically died in a car crash a year after their divorce was finalized.
