‘Men in Black: International’ Premiere Date, Update: Thor and Valkyrie Starring in Doomed Reboot? ‘Captain Marvel’ Vibes

When it was announced that Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson would be starring together in a soft reboot of “Men in Black,” many fans of the franchise groaned. However, a new trailer for “Men in Black: International” appears to provide an encouraging look at the upcoming film. A lot of it has to do with how the main characters already have established chemistry via “Thor: Ragnarok.”

The trailer managed to do several things that such clips are expected to, including providing more details about the characters and the plot of the movie without giving too much away, Polygon reports. The backstory of Tessa Thompson’s character got a lot of attention in the clip, for example, and so did the main villains of the film. Based on the feeling that the trailer gave off, “Men in Black: International” is much like a fresher take on the original first film of the franchise.

There is also the matter of the villains of the movie that appear to be capable of shapeshifting. This then gave the trailer quite the “Captain Marvel” vibe with the Marvel film’s own bad guys known as the Skrulls. With the Chris-Tess team-up and this element thrown together, “Men in Black: International” almost feels like part of the MCU.

In terms of the other details that were provided by the trailer, it would appear that “Men in Black: International” will be set in the UK, where the head is High T (Liam Neeson). There will also be a new alien sidekick and a bunch of new species introduced. As for the characters themselves, the clip reveals that Tessa Thompson’s alter ego is actually a witness to MIB activities.

Fans don’t have to wait too long to find out if “Men in Black: International” will be good or bad. The film is coming out on June 14.
