Xbox Cloud Gaming, while still in beta, has been one of the selling points of Microsoft’s Game Pass Ultimate. And video game fans might have another reason to consider subscribing to the service as the company finally added “Microsoft Flight Simulator” to the list of titles that are playable through the cloud.
Last year, Microsoft made significant improvements to the Xbox Cloud Gaming by making it available on various devices and platforms, including its very own Xbox One. The company announced on Tuesday that the acclaimed “Microsoft Flight Simulator” has finally gained cloud-support. That means players do not need high-end gaming PCs or the current-gen Xbox Series X/S to play the technically demanding game.
Aside from an Xbox One console or supported smartphones and tablets, video game fans have to be subscribed to the Game Pass Ultimate to play “Microsoft Flight Simulator” outside PC and Xbox Series X/S. It is available for $14.99 per month, but new subscribers can join for only $1 on their first month. The plan also includes free memberships to Xbox Live Gold and EA Play.
“Microsoft Flight Simulator” was originally released in 2020, 14 years after “Microsoft Flight Simulator X” launched. The standard copy of the game comes with 20 playable aircraft and has been widely praised for its graphical quality. The game also became a fan-favorite as it was launched at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when most air travels have been restricted around the world.
Aside from aircraft based on real-life planes, “Microsoft Flight Simulator” also features airports designed based on real locations. But one of its best features allows players to fly around the world with real-time weather and effects that allowed players to fly through actual hurricanes as they happened.

Microsoft has yet to announce if it plans on adding Xbox Cloud Gaming support for other games primarily designed for current-gen consoles and high-end PC hardware. But “Microsoft Flight Simulator” is unlikely to be the last title from Microsoft and studios it owns to get this update.
Aside from “Microsoft Flight Simulator,” the “atmospheric vehicle adventure” game “Far: Changing Tides” was added to the Game Pass library as it launched on Tuesday. The game is also playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
