Mondelez International's Chips Ahoy! The brand announced it had changed the signature recipe for its famous chocolate chip cookies and released the improved version. The food manufacturing company said the new recipe will offer a tastier and richer flavor.
Chips Ahoy! is considered the No. 1 chocolate chip cookie brand in the United States. It has had a strong presence in the region for more than 60 years and has also successfully launched this blue-packaged product in other countries.
Changing the Well-Loved Recipe
The flavor of Chips Ahoy! has remained the same for decades, and this year, Mondelez International is revamping the recipe for the classic chocolate chips. The slightly crunchy snack will still have bits of chocolate, but the "MMMProved" version has a better texture and tastier chocolate.
According to Southern Living, Mondelez's Chips Ahoy! cookie brand has a 53% market share in the chocolate chip cookie market. In its quest to make its products better than its competitors and offer superior cookies, the company decided to change its recipe. The company tried more than 60 recipes and spent over 5,000 hours of testing to find the right one, and now, the new chocolate chips are set to be rolled out in stores.
What to Expect from the Updated Choco Chip Cookies
Mondelez said the "MMMproved" Chips Ahoy! cookies will have just the right amount of chocolate chips, specially blended with a higher cacao content and concentration of Madagascar vanilla extract. These ingredients were balanced to produce a more well-rounded chocolate flavor with very little bitterness. Moreover, fans and customers will find the new Chips Ahoy! in stores with a new packaging design.
The improved Chips Ahoy! Is set to be released in select retail outlets within the last week of this month. In April, the chocolate chip cookies will roll out nationwide.
"Chips Ahoy! cookies have been beloved by generations and have over 53% market share, but in a category where taste is king and many chocolate chip cookies look the same, we wanted to challenge ourselves to step up our quality while staying true to what our fans already love," Chips Ahoy! Senior director Sabrina Sierant said in a press release. "This was a daunting task, we heard time and again 'don't mess with the cookies we love,' but we knew we could bring Chips Ahoy! fans an even higher quality cookie that maintains all the things they already loved, like just the right amount of chip to cookie ratio."
