There is no doubt that “My Hero Academia” is full of interesting characters and references to pop culture that many might miss. However, in a recent development, it would seem that the property is introducing a new character that monster movie fans simply will not be able to ignore. Speaking of movies, the “My Hero Academia” dropped to the number seven spot this week but is still considered to be doing quite well.
A bio for a pro-hero named “Godzillo,” which could not be more obvious in its reference, was posted on Twitter by user Aitaikimochii. The user was even kind enough to provide translations so that western fans of “My Hero Academia” can also understand what this unsubtle character is all about. Just to drive the reference home, this hero is apparently residing in America and has the quirk called Toho.
Horikoshi's sketch from the Vol. 0 Manga of "Godzillo," a pro-hero that appears in the Boku No Hero Academia "The Two Heroes" movie, is HILARIOUS. The description of the Godzilla-like character is so good. I translated the character sheet for this pro-hero who works in America... pic.twitter.com/5CR1la8TPX

For those who may not have gotten that reference, Toho is basically the studio that owns the “Godzilla” property. The quirk of “Godzillo” from “My Hero Academia” is an ode to the company that made one of the most iconic movie characters of all time. Unlike the genuine article, though, this pro-hero is only 13 feet tall. He won’t be towering over buildings, but he’ll be much more agile than if he were actually over 50 meters in height.
With regards to the “My Hero Academia” movie, the film has fallen by three places after debuting in fourth place in Japan. It would seem that the film has earned ¥500 million during that time, Crunchyroll reports, so it seems to be performing quite well.
This is hardly surprising since “My Hero Academia” has become quite popular in Japan, just as it has taken the global stage by storm. A worldwide rollout for “My Hero Academia The Movie: The Two Heroes” could bring in new milestones for the property.
