Some of the most important gameplay aspects in the “NBA 2K” series are the overall ratings of players and the teams. With only a week left before “NBA 2K20” goes live, sports and gaming fans can now see how their favorite team ranks in the next iteration of the basketball simulation game.
‘NBA 2K20’ team ranking: Warriors get top 5
It might be surprising to some fans that the season 2018-19 runner-up Golden State Warriors have actually fallen behind several teams that did not even make it to the 2018-19 playoffs in the “NBA 2K20” ranking. The San Francisco, California-based team is placed in no. 5 with a total overall rating of 77.71. Since the video game’s world, this already applies to the season 2019-20, the massive changes in the Warriors roster could be the main reason.
Fans will no longer be seeing Warriors as the once so-called superteam in “NBA 2K20.” In the real league, some of its best players have already signed with other teams.
Kevin Durant who will be donning a Brooklyn Nets jersey, DeMarcus Cousins will be playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Andre Igoudala has since moved to the Memphis Grizzlies. These major changes are, of course, going to affect the team’s performance in real life and in “NBA 2K20,” too, so the ranking is actually not that big of a surprise.
For “NBA 2K20’s” version of season 2019-20, Los Angeles Clippers (78.69) is leading the league followed by the Lakers (78.27). Utah Jazz (78.17) and Denver Nuggets (78.08) have also ranked higher than the Warriors. Aside from Warriors, Clippers was the only team that made it to the 2018-19 playoffs but ultimately lost in the first round.
‘NBA 2K20’ release date, features: Big changes are coming
The most recent announcement about “NBA 2K20” is the return of MyTEAM mode along with new features. One of the most interesting upgrades in this gameplay is the position locking for every player. This practically enhances the balancing of the game by limiting some players to only two positional assignments. This way, gamers can no longer simply assign five big players on the court to dominate every match.
Anthony Davis is the face of “NBA 2K20” while Dwyane Wade is the featured athlete in the Legend Edition. The game will be officially released on Sept. 6 on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
