Most houses don’t have intercoms, but with the popularity of Internet of Things products like Google Home devices, smart speakers and such are now found in a lot of homes. In a new update, Google just gave users the ability to broadcast their voices throughout the whole house using Google Home products. This gives moms the ability to potentially nag everyone at the same time.
The new feature was actually announced last month, The Verge reports, and now Google has come through with its promises. Anyone who has Google Home devices can start broadcasting their voices anywhere the devices are placed. The users simply need to speak through Google Assistant, which is bound to come in handy when calling family members during dinner time.
It’s basically an intercom system where even just one Google Home device can be used to communicate anywhere in the house. For example, households with two-story buildings can communicate with those upstairs without having to raise their voices. Users could also simply tell the Google Home devices to send out a notification sound such as a dinner bell.
What’s really fascinating is the fact that the feature will work even if the user is out of the house. As such, if mom wants to yell at her kids for doing something crazy while she is out, she doesn’t need to wait to come home to start yelling at everybody. Just needs to say “Ok Google” and then let it rip.
This announcement comes at an opportune time as well since Black Friday deals are already giving customers plenty of reasons to go nuts. Several retailers are bundling Google Home devices along with other products or services, PC Mag reports, which would make this the perfect chance for users to have their very own intercom system that they could then use wherever they are as long as there is cell connection.
