NEW YORK, Nov. 27, 2017 -- At the end of the settlement date of November 15, 2017, short interest in 2,353 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,492,878,677 shares compared with 7,295,499,278 shares in 2,348 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of October 31, 2017. The mid-November short interest represents 4.10 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.97 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 869 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 850,258,476 shares at the end of the settlement date of November 15, 2017 compared with 821,568,682 shares in 863 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 2.48 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.70
In summary, short interest in all 3,222 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,343,137,153 shares at the November 15, 2017 settlement date, compared with 3,211 issues and 8,117,067,960 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.84 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.58 days for the previous reporting period.
